Sellita SW200-2 POWER+

The Sellita SW200-2 Power+ was developed internally during 2025 (technical documentation carries an internal date of April 28, 2025) and formally unveiled on February 2, 2026. It is the direct successor to the SW200-1, Sellita's most widely produced automatic caliber, first signalled by a pop-up banner on Sellita's own website in December 2025.

The SW200 family traces its roots to the ETA 2824-2: the SW200-1 was engineered as a dimensionally compatible alternative to that benchmark movement. The SW200-2 keeps the same external envelope — 26 mm diameter, 4.6 mm height — making it a straightforward drop-in for brands already on the SW200-1 platform. The similarity ends there internally: Sellita redesigned the gear train (optimized tooth geometry), mainspring barrel, and regulating organ (balance inertia halved from 16 to 8 mg·cm²). Only the date mechanism and keyless work are carried over largely unchanged, leading many observers to describe it as effectively a new movement.

The headline upgrade is the jump from the SW200-1's ~38–41 hours to 65 hours of power reserve, achieved without sacrificing the 28,800 vph (4 Hz) beat rate. That distinction is a deliberate counter to the ETA Powermatic 80, which reaches 80 hours partly by stepping down to 21,600 vph; the SW200-2 therefore retains full eligibility for COSC chronometer certification. A redesigned Incabloc shock system and reworked brass bridges complete the package.

Given that the SW200-2 shares the complication architecture and footprint of the SW200-1 — and that ETA continues to restrict supply to outside brands — rapid adoption across the mid-range Swiss-made segment is widely anticipated. The first SW200-2-powered watches were just appearing in early 2026.
